In Illinois: Can my 22 year old brother take me (16yrs old) to get a tattoo?

I want to get a tattoo, but my parents are lame and won't take me. Is it legal to have my 22 year old brother sign for me?

nope. unless he is your guardian, he has no influence. if you want it done legally of course.

I wouldn't think so, In most all states it has to be a parent or legal guardian and they have to see a picture ID from both people, And Or Birth certificate or proof of custody, So Unless your brother is your legal guardian and has proof that he is, Then you're going to have to wait, I know it sucks, But Wait it out and go to a professional, You would be allot happier that you waited because you will prolly change your mind on what you want at least 3 or 4 more times,
Reply:No. He is not your parent or legal guardian. Almost everything that requires permission if you are not over 18, that permission must be from your legal guardian.
Reply:nope.

he has to be your legal guardian.

if your parents say you can get one and give him permission to take you im sire you can get away with it.
Reply:NOT Realy
Reply:None of these are right, sorry...unless you know state laws, don't give advice. Even your parents cannot sign for you in an Illinois shop - it is 18 or older or nothing. I LOVE that law!!!
Reply:no, because he is not your guardian...anyways, in some tattoo parlors, you wont need your parents permission/signature to get a tattoo
Reply:No, your brother can not legally take you to get a tattoo as minor. Even if it is legal for minors to get tattooed in Illinios, you MUST have a legal guardian, not just someone old enough. You, your brother, and the shop could face serious charges under the law.

-I know that most states don't allow parental consent, including mine. That is why I said even if it is legal for minors because it most likely isn't and I didn't know for sure about that state. Besides, it's only two more years, you will mature, grow and get to know yourself so much better that you will be glad you didn't get something now.
