Am I at risk getting HIV or AIDS if I get a tattoo?
more like Hepatitis
Reply:Only if the needle isn't clean... if you go to a decent shop, you should be fine.
Reply:Common misconception, Any Good tattoo shop has to have every artist permitted by the state health dept, If you're worried Go to the tattoo shop you're planning on getting your tattoo done at, Ask them to see the permits and pathogens documents,Every tattoo shop has to do spore and pathogen tests on a regular basis,Also Every artist has to have a permit or license, Meaning a State health official came out and watched the artist do an entire set up and break down as if they were doing a tattoo, To properly ensure the artist does not cross contaminate, These have to updated yearly sometimes more depending on the state regulations,Every artist has to pay 75 upwards to 100 or more to keep their job, Ask For portfolios as well Every good artist keeps one and would have no problems showing off their work, Watch The artist set up, He should wash his hands then put on gloves and set up all his equipment, Then change gloves and apply alcohol to cleanse the area you're getting tattooed, Then apply A soapy liquid (Green soap and Distilled water) Normally kept in a spray bottle that should be covered with a bag, Then he will shave the area if needed and apply the stencil and start working, Look for a red biohazard bin somewhere in the room prolly on the floor or wall near his station, To Dispose of old needles, The Needles should be brand new and in some sort of plastic casing, The Tubes that hold the needle are sterilized via ultrasonic and Autoclave, If you see anything that doesn't seem right don't be afraid to ask the artist, They should have no problems explaining anything to you, Good Luck
Reply:If you go to a professional tattoo shop you should be just fine. There are things you want to look for in a shop. They are as follows.... Every surface in the tattooing area should be a clean wipe-able surface. Everything should be single use, except the tips and tubes. These should be cleaned then sterilized. There shouldn't be any eating in the tattoo area. The artist should wear latex gloves or the medical equvilant if you are allergic to latex during the entire tattoo process. The area to be tattooed should be shaved with a disposable razor prior to the stencile being put on. This prevents any hair from being pushed in to the skin and becoming an ingrown hair or causing an infection. You shouldn't see the artist pour the ink back in to the bottle from the little caps that are used during the tattoo process. This contaminates the entire bottle of ink. Once the needle has been put in a persons skin and the put in to the little cap of ink, the cap of ink has that persons blood in it. A shop hould have a waiting area, a tattooing area, a clean area or room. This is where the tips and tubes are sterilized. Every part of the above should be seperate from each other. My husband has been a professional tattoo artist for 21 years this year and runs a very clean and reputable tattoo shop. I am very heavily tattooed ( sleeved and have tattoos in various other places) and I have never gotten any disease from being tattooed. I love being tattooed. I would recommend asking your friends who have tattoos where they got them. Check out the shop you plan on going to, make sure you are comfortable with it. Talk with the artist, he/she should answer any questions you have. Most cities and states have tattoo regulations that must be followed. You should see a health department certificate somewhere in the shop. I hope this helps. Good Luck !

HIV is contracted from coming in contact with another person's blood

if the needles have not been sterilized before using them on you and they have been used before (say, on a person with HIV), you run a high risk of getting the virus

AIDS forms as a result of HIV, you cannot get it immediately from the tattoo, it is a syndrome that takes 6 months to 12 years to form
Reply:yes....you should go to a plastice surgeon..i went there and i had a nice clean tatto
