Use a great sunscreen no matter how long you lay out.
When laying outside in the sun, how long should u lay for best results?
I usually do about 40 minutes or so per day for a few days, but different people tan differently because of their skin. Don't try to lay out all day

I (and my mom+friends) would say that about 15 minutes on each side. Flip according to the color you want... use sunscreen though... it protects from ugly sun damage + you can also get a tan!!
Reply:I use a cooking timer and set it for 30 minutes. That way when I hear it go off I know to flip over. I usually have a spray bottle of water too and I spray myself with it when the sun starts to feel too hot on me.
Reply:If your fair skinned, you might want to start off with small amounts of time (15-20 min per side). If you want a tan, don't use high SPF sun screen. What most ppl don't know is that the UV rays is what makes us dark- not the light/brightness. That's why when you go to the tanning salon- it's a UV bed. Anyway, to get a nice cooked shade of bronze, you might want to put on a thin layer of baby oil or sprinkle water on ur skin. If your a medium tone you might to start out at 30 minutes... you don't want to overdo it, make sure to cool your skin after sunbathing to minimize peeling or burning. And don't forget to put on lotion with NO fragrance after cooling for optimal moisturizing.
